Iain Mackenzie

In 1986, then-fledging director Iain Mackenzie was awarded a slew of honors for his work on the Singapore Army campaign. Since those very early days, the director and cinematographer has continued to create visually stunning work for which he has taken home countless awards- from the London International Advertising Award to the Kodak Gong to the prestigious Cannes Lion.

For twenty years Mackenzie has tackled projects from the dramatic to the humorous, bringing striking creativity and impressive visuals to every single spot. He continues to astound with his poignant work for Dow’s The Human Element campaign, Mercedes, The Beer Institute, Lincoln-Mercury, and Ameriprise- all of which has garnered the highest acclaim from the advertising community.

Additional notable work from Mackenzie includes an expansive campaign for the U.S. Marines, Chrysler, Lincoln Financial, Lexus, PNC Bank, and Visa. He has worked with a myriad of celebrities, among them Paul McCartney, Dennis Hopper, Jude Law, Naomi Watts, Chrissie Hynde, Kylie Minogue and Hugh Laurie.

Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Mackenzie received a B.A. in Photographic Arts & Film From the Polytechnic of Central London, and then continued his education at various European film schools.

He began his career in 1982 with Directors Studio in London, where he quickly rose to the position of director at just twenty-five. He remained at Directors Studio for the next five years, honing his craft and filming all around the globe. Today, Iain Mackenzie is partner and director at Paydirt Pictures in Beverly Hills, California.

An avid reader, Mackenzie has a vast personal archive of books on Film, Photography, and Architecture. He also maintains a growing collection of contemporary art.
